Written & Edited by: Lee Fenton

  1. His middle name is Jerome.

  2. He worked as an usher at an adult theatre in Torrance. It was called the ‘Pussycat Theatre’.

  3. Quentin Tarantino is an Aries.

  4. Tarantino traveled to Amsterdam to work on the script for ‘Pulp Fiction’.

  5. He’s an avid fan of Elmore Leonard novels, Tarantino’s movie ‘Jackie Brown’ is adapted from the novel ‘Rum Punch’ by the best-selling author. Another film (unrelated to Tarantino) that’s based on Leonard’s work is ‘Get Shorty’ – starring John Travolta & Danny Devito.

  6. He’s a good guy!

He made sure that Miramax didn’t charge Universal Pictures for the rights to Ray Nicollete, the character that Michael Keaton plays in ‘Jackie Brown’. Universal was producing the film ‘Out of Sight’, which is also based on an Elmore Leonard novel.

Steven Soderbegh had already been working on his film when Tarantino began production on his own project, as well as just wanting Elmore Leonard’s work to be translated to the screen accurately – Quentin Tarantino ensured that the rights were given freely. Therefore we have a strange and unique shared universe between these two films; Micahel Keaton plays the same character from ‘Jackie Brown’ for one scene in Soderbergh’s ‘Out of Sight’.

  7. In 1995 – Quentin Tarantino directed one of four stories in an anthology ‘The Four Rooms’.

  8. Sony Pictures distributed ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.

  9. He allowed Leonardo DiCaprio  to light stunt coordinators on fire with a flamethrower. So there’s that…

10. Knoxville, Tennessee is the birthplace of Quentin Tarantino.

11. He gives maternity leave.

Tarantino postponed Kill Bill Vol.1 when his lead actress Uma Thurman became pregnant. Since the whole idea of the character was stylized around her and she had helped contribute a good portion of the characterization, he refused to recast the part. I’d say that was a damn good choice!

12. He really loves working with Samuel Jackson, Harvey Kietel & Tim Roth. Sam Jackson has the most Tarantino roles with six and both Kietel and Roth have four each.

13. Tarantino wanted to direct a James Bond movie back when ‘Casino Royale’ was in the works. So perhaps we might see a 007 feature by the director, yet!

14. Pulp Fiction won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

15. I’d say my all time favourite quote by Quentin is this: when people ask me if I went to film school – I say “No. I went to films.”

16. He plays roles in a handful of movies from ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Django Unchained’, to ‘Planet Terror’ and ‘Little Nicky’. Interestingly, that last one is an early 2000s Adam Sandler vehicle.

17. He has won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay  twice, once for ‘Pulp Fiction’ in 1995, and again for ‘Django: Unchained’ in 2013.

18. He didn’t always want to be a director, when he was younger his dream was to be an actor.

19.  He was a childhood fan of John Travolta before casting him in ‘Pulp Fiction’ for what is arguably one of the actors biggest successes of his career.

20. His parents names are Connie McHugh & Tony Tarantino

21. One of Quentin’s favourite movies ever since it was released in 1992, is ‘Friday’.

It’s a comedy film that was directed by F Gary Gray and stars Ice Cube, as well as Chris Tucker. It’s about two slacker friends that hang out on a friday – smoking reefer and getting into all sorts of shenanigans.

22.  Quentin went to acting classes at the James Best Theatre Company.

23. The man hated school when he was young. His preferred pastime was reading comics and watching TV.

24. He loves the film ‘A Man Called Horse’.

25. This acclaimed filmmaker is also quite tall! At 6’1’’ Tarantino towers over some of his shorter contemporaries.

Wow, some people have it all – hey?
